Job Title: Shift Fitter (HGV/PSV Maintenance)


Location: Durham


Salary: £19.03 per hour
Hours: 39 hours per week, shifts between 05:00 and 17:30 (5 over 7, Sunday to Saturday)




Job Overview:


An exciting and rewarding opportunity has arisen for an experienced and ambitious individual to join a leading garage in Durham as a Shift Fitter. In this role, you will be directly responsible for the maintenance and servicing of a fleet of PCV vehicles, ensuring that all vehicles meet and exceed industry standards.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Carry out servicing and repairs in line with DVSA standards.

  • Continuously improve vehicle standards, ensuring top reliability.

  • Prepare vehicles for MOTs, ensuring compliance.

  • Diagnose vehicle faults and maintain high standards of vehicle safety and performance.

  • Work shifts that cover 5 days over 7, with start times between 05:00 and 17:30.


Requirements:



  • Strong knowledge of PSV/HGV maintenance with relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 NVQ).

  • Ability to work safely and independently according to pre-set standards and guidelines.

  • Electrical knowledge is a plus, but not essential.

  • A PCV license is desirable but not required.

  • Experience with vehicle inspections for scheduled maintenance is advantageous (training available), and IRTEC accreditation is favourable.
