****Berry recruitment are recruiting for a Tenancy Assistant**


Berry are working on an exciting role, to deliver an excellent local housing management service to tenants and other stakeholders in the city. Deal with enquiries which may be in person, over the phone, in writing or via IT systems, assisting customers where possible or ensuring their enquiry is directed to the appropriate person or team. Provide a clerical and administrative service. Carry out visits outside the office for example showing customers around empty properties, inspecting gardens and communal areas. Provide an accurate cash collection service (at sites where payments are made) for tenants and customers.


Responsibilties



  • Provide customers with an excellent enquiry service. Respond to enquiries received where appropriate or ensure the enquiry is directed to the appropriate person or team in a timely way in line with service standards. Seek advice and support from more senior officers where necessary. Some enquiries will require you to make a written response.

  • Treat customers with respect, demonstrating sensitivity for the customs, culture, and beliefs of others. Deal with tenants and the public on a regular basis for example interviewing tenants in relation to their housing requirements usually at a local housing office, in the tenant’s own home or community venue. The behaviour of some customers may, at times, be challenging. To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.

  • Working as part of a larger team of housing staff you may be providing a cash taking or front of housing enquiry service, based in allocations team or as part of a team of housing management staff where you will provide support to the team for example signing new tenants up to their tenancy agreement or recording tenants giving Notice to end their tenancy. Flexibility over own work location is required.

  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of housing legislation, policies and procedures to respond to enquiries and maintain a working knowledge of other Council Services such as Council Tax or partner services such as Welfare Benefits.

  • Apply the Housing Services policies and procedures to work seeking advice and support from more senior officers where necessary. Where appropriate make referrals to other agencies for example referring safeguarding concerns.

  • Meet or exceed performance targets, working flexibly to deliver the service to customers.

  • Accurately record information on computer or paper records in a timely manner cross checking data where required for example recording the location of keys of empty properties or arranging the removal of rubbish from properties. Provide information such as simple statistics to staff and managers where required.

  • Provide an efficient and accurate cash collection, daily collation and banking service at sites where cash is taken.

  • Provide administration for the management of housing assets for example maintaining garage waiting lists, allocating garages, taking Notice from customers in line with policies and procedures.

  • Demonstrate effective behaviours in line with the Councils Competency Framework.
