Berry Recruitment are NOW hiring for a committed and experienced Buyer to work for a family ran Manufacturing organisation in Wallingford, Oxfordshire.


Collaborating with the purchasing team to guarantee timely availability of all direct and indirect materials at the most economical prices. Ensuring your assigned suppliers meet agreed-upon KPIs. Your success will be evaluated based on supplier performance and your impact on the company's profitability through cost-effective material procurement and availability.


Role: Buyer


Salary: £38,000 Per Annum


Location: Wallingford, Oxfordshire


Hours: Monday – Friday - 08:00 - 16:30


Holiday Entitlement: 25 Days Annual Leave.



About the role:
As Buyer your duties will be:



  • Placing orders for both contract and non-contract goods based on MRP reports and manual requests.

  • Managing supplier relationships and sourcing new suppliers.

  • Striving to negotiate cost reductions wherever feasible.

  • Keeping supplier information current in the MRP system and assessing their performance regularly.

  • Monitoring supplier performance and initiating programs for their improvement.

  • Ensuring minimum stock levels are maintained according to MRP needs.

  • Adjusting MRP parameters for components to ensure timely availability and optimal batch sizes.

  • Following up on outstanding purchase orders in coordination with Production Control.

  • Supporting Stores staff when needed, including during stocktaking activities.

  • Assisting Production Control in advancing work through the production process.

  • Providing assistance in other company areas as needed based on reasonable requests.



About you:



  • A qualification in Purchasing (CIPS) (Desirable but not essential.

  • Previous experience using MRP/ERP/SAP or similar and are you competent in its use for placing and reviewing Purchase Orders and updating parts and supplier or customer data.

  • Experienced in supplier or customer management.

  • Demonstrate a competency in the use of MS Office Suite, including Excel, Word & Outlook?

  • Experience of working in a manufacturing environment.

  • Demonstrate a professional and entrepreneurial attitude to purchasing.

  • Possess excellent communication and assertiveness skills
